Then I thought of my best friend since kindergarten. A stay-at-home mother of three, she never responds to email. For someone who is constantly connected to her laptop and BlackBerry as much as I am, this is truly hard to comprehend. "I just don't have time to hide out in the office on the computer reading personal emails," she explained to me recently. "I'm always on the go." In my opinion, both of these women would be excellent candidates for Peek. A device that's described as being for anyone except hardcore techies, Peek puts the power of email in the palm of your hand. To set it up you simply enter your email address and password and you're ready to send. Peek can be purchased online or in Target stores (perhaps no coincidence since it is a busy mom's favorite place to shop) for $99.95. The nationwide service is $19.95 per month and requires no contracts. The device supports up to three email addresses and will deliver the messages into a single inbox. In this age of devices that do everything—including things you don't want or need them to do—the Peek is a breath of fresh air. Why pay for a camera, a video camera, mobile web browser and other features you'll never use? Plop on the couch and scroll through your messages with one hand! In fact, the founder and creator of Peek, Amol Sarva says the idea for Peek came to him when he tried to convince his "way-too-busy and way-too-stressed" pregnant wife to use a smartphone to stay on top of her email. Her "no way" attitude was the lightbulb that got him started on developing the device. Watching her check her emails from her friends one handed while the baby slept in the other arm made it all worthwhile, he says. So if you're looking for an easy way to send and read email on the go, that won't overload your tech senses, Peek might be the solution that's right for you.
Posted by: amol| October 10, 2008 at 10:37 AM What a cool idea... I'm personally way to techy (and my umpteen email addys make it impossible to leave my Crackberry), but I have quite a few friends I'd like to gift this to for Christmas :-) A polite way of saying "please start checking your email!", no? Does it sound stupid and girly to say I like the pretty colors? e mail is good .but I would like a browser and capacity to browse all or most of the net.....when will this be available ....please respond edward ortiz |
