You gotta love a woman who calls herself Desperate Working Momma and is willing to sit in front of her computer's built-in camera every week to record a new video podcast (or vidcast) about technology.

Technogeekery with Chassy Cat is, as she describes it, "full of helpful techno tips and tutorials for people who want to do wicked cool things with technology, but are too impatient to weed through the jargon, completely unmotivated to look up the big words, and too lazy to take a class."

Sound like any readers of this blog?

I have to admit, writing about technology is hard sometimes. There are times when I sit in front of my computer searching for the right words to make technology seem, well, simply stated. Sometimes it's easier to show someone the shortcut key on the side of their BlackBerry than to describe where it is. Take my sister for example. I had to go to her house to show her how to set up her iPod shuffle and iTunes playlists because my attempts to explain it over the phone fell on deaf ears. In one conversation, after several heavy sighs of exasperation she muttered, "you're just going to have to show me."

Did I mention my sister is a very smart and successful woman? She's also a busy working mom. Sometimes we just don't have time to be tech savvy!

If you are anything like my sister, Technogeekery might be your answer. The producer and host is Chassy Cat—a self-described cheeky and sassy gal—who's real name is Catherine Lambson. Cat is a federally employed writer and web site developer, who does graphic design, blogging, and video podcasting on the side. And she's a mother, too (not sure how many children she has as I couldn't find that on her LinkedIn profile). Her vidcast is snarky, funny, at times plain silly, but she clearly she knows her stuff. The way she walks you through the computer screen shots to illustrate how to do something is almost as good as having your sister or friend come by to show you personally.

Cat's style might not be for everyone. Her funny improvisations could seem irrelevant to a time-pressed woman trying to build her first blog, but I found her 'cast on RSS feeds and her review of the Eye-Fi wireless memory card to be quite fun to watch. If you have a sense of humor and like to laugh while learning new things, check out her site. You can even scroll through all her show archives for free. And let me know if you learn anything new. I did!

Hey now, Technogeekery isn't just for busy moms. How about busy doctors who just want to learn a few key computer tips. Cat changed my life with her episode on Control-F. I've now taken back control of my web browser!

Chassy Cat has literally changed my life! I've officially become a "Technogeek" and proudly display the banner on my website AND myspace page. Her "Hyperlinks and Hugh Hreffner" show helped me break into the secret club of making my stuff really cool! PLUS, did you know that she can be hired to build and/or manage your website? True! My site is up-to-date and fun to look at because of Cat. She rocks my online world!

I LOVE this!!! I totally love the idea of increasing my techno-knowledge but can't seem to make the time for it. Cat's vidcast fits the bill to a T! Even with the podcast I do, I still am very technologically-challenged. Thanks, Cat!! Now I don't even need a one-on-one tutorial every time I turn on my computer.
