By now I've become a pro at putting together Ikea furniture. Give me a rubber mallet and a Phillips screwdriver for the cams, and I'm good to go. But that doesn't mean I wouldn't welcome an easier way to assemble the furniture in my apartment. Thankfully, Way Basics, a California-based company, has figured out a way to make some very Expedit-esque furniture that you literally just stick together. Check out their video on how to put together the basic cube: The boards used as the basis for the way basics system are made from recycled cardboard that's just as strong as the particle board you'd get from Ikea and other retailers, but much more eco-friendly. And because the boards are held together with really strong double-sided tape you are free to assemble them in any configuration you choose. For example, here is the basic Tribeca Bookcase: And here is another bookcase, made with multiple Way Basic kits: I'm not sure exactly which modules were used, but try doing that with your Expedit. The other plus side with Way Basics is that the kits are incredibly inexpensive. The basic cube in the video above is only $20 and the Tribeca Bookcase is $93, plus shipping of course. What do you think? Have you tried Way Basics furniture? Do you think it's something you would try? (images from Way Basics)
