When my kids are bickering or disobeying and I get to my boiling point, I've learned to run for my laundry room, lock the door and pray. It calms me right down and I can come out ready to discipline them the correct way. Plus, the few minutes I am in there gives the kids time to stop what they are doing and change their behavior. Win/win!

I was once caught in the middle of a dispute between my two best friends whom had both had relations with the same man. One was in the right, and the other in the wrong, but knowing each of their stories made it impossible for me to choose sides... so I didn't. I stayed loyal to them both by not discussing either person's situation with the other. It was a terrible time for all of us, and though my two friends no longer speak to each other, I still remain close friends with each of them.

When I need to calm myself down at home, I hang out with the dogs. My two 3 year old Saint Bernards just let you stroke their heads until you feel better. Of course, this only works when it's not something they destroyed to send my blood pressure rising.

Take the dog for a walk. If that isn't enough and the weather is right - mow the grass! Works wonders

I recite Galatians 5:22-23 to myself. It reads "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control." I try to really think about the meaning of the words as I say it. It's hard to stay angry when you're thinking about love, joy, and peace.

There's an adage that says, "Count from 1 to 10."
I have learned to discipline myself by starting at 7.
This seems to be a quicker way to disfuse most
any situation. It works for me.
