At the playground is a wall with the letters of the alphabet. My then 3-year old grandson asked me, "Why is the A first and why is the Z last?".

I was stumped! Couldn't think of an answer that wouldn't lead to a dozen more questions from a 3-year old, so I just said "Good question, but I don't know the answer!!".

My 10 year old was having lunch with her class mates.Everyday they would sit together. Then one day they said to her,you cannot sit with us. Some days its o.k. then others its not. They can be so mean. What do I tell her?

I have an almost three-year-old, so which of his questions haven't stumped me?? I get asked things like, "What are scabs?" and "What is a telescope?" It took me several flubbed answers on my part and blank stares on his part to realize that all he really wants is a simple answer, not a whole scientific explanation. Whoops!

Ok...this one is funny/sad in some ways.

My brother asked my mom regarding "Are we public since kids who go to Catholic school are Catholic?"

Why do people die?

This is a tough one for adults to deal with, and I try to discuss it delicately. We are religious so we talk about heaven and there being a place where we will all be reunited. We talk about qaulity of life and being too ill or old to enjoy it. When younger people die, it is much more difficult to explain....but I find just cuddling together and being open and honest about our feelings on this subject seems to calm my son.
