What Would You Do with an Extra 15 Minutes?
Posted on Dec 13, 2006 11:05:05 AM  |  By SimplyStatedAdmin

Like a horse out of the gate, you no doubt hit the ground running: Get up, get out, get back home, get dinner together, get to bed, get up, and do it again. If you had an extra 15 minutes in your day, how would you use it?

Tell us how you'd use the extra minutes by posting a comment, below.

Call an elderly person on the phone just to chat or see if there is an errand I can run for them. Elderly persons who live alone can feel so left out when no one calls to chat or see how they are doing.. The marketing scams call and are so rude to elderly persons. My call would be of cheer!

I would try to create something beautiful - even if I couldn't get out the paints to work on my art, I would take those minutes to perhaps arrange fruit prettily, turn some gorgeous books face forward on the shelf or put a sprig of something alive in a vase on a cleared coffee table.

I'd call someone on the phone who has been important in my life, and brighten their day. Life is short and we do not know when that opportunity will be taken from us.
We take for granted that they will be there in the future for us to call.

I'd like to say I'd read my Bible more or exercise more or reach out more, but my life is so busy, my plate is already so full, so in actuality, I'd probably just work more either caring for my 93 year old dad, my new grandbaby, work overtime, or do more chores at home. Boring, I know, but with one foot in front of the other, that's what I would end up doing.

With an extra fifteen minutes in my day, I would use it to read my Bible. It's amazing how in just a few minutes, you read exactly what your need to hear.

Read! I am teacher and know the importance of reading at any age, however, with two kids all that I have time for is reading books with my them. I enjoy the time I steal away to read my Real Simple and my books.

What I'd really love to do is pray. The quiet, peace of prayer always lifts me so high that I can carry on with my day with calm and peace.

I would give my daughter 15 minutes completely uninterrupted by telephone, errands, or to-dos. I would marvel in the wonder that is her growing up so that when she is on her own, I will have spent that extra time every day making precious memories of our time alone together.

When I was teaching first grade I often thought of what I would do with an extra 15 minutes ...read a book, sleep, clean a closet, take a walk or play with the dog. Now that I have retired I should have that extra time right? Wrong! I still find myself busy but I have learned to prioritize what is important to me and my list of "should dos" do not control me any longer. I get to them by giving myself half an hour to each "should" and somehow I can get them done just not all at once. I remember my father in-law saying, "I wake up in the morning with nothing to do and only get half of it done by the end of the day." Now I know what he meant.

Spend extra time with my best friends who always seem to find time for me, my four dogs. Can you say "Play"??

I would take a nap on the bed with my English Springer Spanials, Bogey and Lacey, and think about how lucky I am to have such a wonderful husband and two beautiful and intelliegent dogs. They all love unconditionally, I'm a blessed woman!

I recently went through the pile of magazines on the nightstand and pulled the articles I want to read. I keep them in a folder in my briefcase and pull them out when I wait for appointments.

I would take that extra 15 minutes a day and ponder the blessings that God bestows on me each day. I would document these in a journal and as the days, months, and years pass, I would look back over this journal and truly realize that He is fulfillng his promise of blessing me. It would be written down for me to see and generations after. This 15 minutes a day could be a legacy passed from generation to generation.
