Can we please do the voting earlier or end it earlier next time so we have more time to get the book. 2 days is not sufficient.

Hi Loretta,

There will actually be more than a week to get the book. Voting will end on September 28th and that's when we'll announce the book that was chosen. On October 1st, Corynne will be introducing herself and will probably say a little bit about why she's interested in reading whatever book is chosen, but discussion about the contents of the book won't begin until the following week.

Sorry for the confusion!

Can somebody tell me why "we" are using the teeniest tiniest print for this book club???? I have to press my nose against my computer screen to read the emails concerning the club. Can you enlarge the font maybe???

I would love to read the book by Ann Pachett. I have enjoyed her previous books and I wouldn't mind reading a fiction book this time.

I'm very excited for the next book. I read Nora Ephron's book last year and although I enjoyed it, not enough to re-read it in order to join in on the discussions!

Great book choices. I'm really drawn to Brother, I'm Dying. I'll probably read it on my own if it doesn't win. This is so fun!

Thought we were reading books-- not interested in web sites.

Did read "Neck" and am half through "The Book Thief" on my own. Today I checked out "The Alchemist" and "Run" from my local library in preparation for the vote results. Our library does not have the first two choices so hopefully I'm in business. Am enjoying this new selection of titles.

I'm already enjoying myself and every ones opinions already on all sorts of books mentioned.
I will admit I didn't buy I Hate My Neck, instead I purchased The Book Thief.
Wow, what a great story. I love this book. I couldn't be happier that it was reccomended. I will finish it within the next 2 days.

Great Club Idea,
Gina

I already read the latest choice, and it looks like "Run" will be the next month's choice and I already read that one too! Hopefully the more obscure books will win so I can be involved.

Melissa - Thank you for your reply but we need time to read the book to be ready when the first discussion starts. I still believe more time would be appreciated for those budget concious folks buying or borrowing books online that ship via media mail (7 - 10 days). I'll try to keep up when my book arrives.

Jeanne - the problem has to do with your internet settings, not with the website. If you are using Internet Explorer, click on "view", "text size", and then pick an appropriate setting. If you use a different browser, check help on how to adjust it.

Melissa - thanks for responding, but I too agree with Loretta's comments.

Thanks for the feedback, Loretta & Doreen (and everyone!). I'll share your thoughts with the editors and see whether we can adjust the schedule in some way. We definitely don't want to be making things harder for you!

All the books looked great this month. It was a tough decision to vote for just one. I'll definitely be writing titles down to read on my own.

Boy, I really had a hard time with October's pick. Is there a way to have the second choice that made the top 2 move over to the next month's choices?

where are October choices

Posted by: MRL| September 26, 2008 at 03:04 PM

I missed voting for October's book "Run" - would like to know the other books that were in the running. Thanks.

Posted by: Teesie| September 29, 2008 at 02:14 PM

Tessie ~ the books in the running for October were: "Brother, I'm Dying", by Edwidge Danticat; "The Book of Other People", edited by Zadie Smith; and "The Alchemist", by Paulo Coelho. Sherry (one of those who lists the non-winners so I can consider them in the future!).

Sorry about mis-spelling your name in my previous post, Teesie.
