Invitations
Creative Response Cards

In the olden days, RSVP cards didn't even exist. Guests instinctively knew to send a hand-written note noting whether or not they could attend. Then came the "formal reply card", which left it up to the guest to offer up the name and number of guests attending. Here's an example of a blank reply card, still often used for formal invitation suites:

These days though, brides have gotten so much more creative. I saw these on wedding bee and thought they were just the cutest (though they heavily rely on your guests being a bit clever with words).

I think giving your guests a chance to be clever is such a fun idea. Plus, if it works, you can always display your RSVP's at the reception. We've had couples use vintage post cards for RSVP's and pin them up near the guestbook area as a way to personalize the space.

While RSVPs have gotten more and more unique though, nothing quite tops this card from A Bride in the Making.

Are any of you doing anything creative with your RSVP cards?

We're asking our guests to request a song for dancing, and leaving a space for them to "leave a drawing, poem or note to add to their wedding memories!" I stole the song request idea from a friend married last year, and the space for a note or drawing from Nicole and Patrick at http://www.promtoaltar.net/2008/12/invitations.html. They hung theirs at the reception, cute!

I love that last one - too funny! I'm posting it on my blog tomorrow!

I was married in 2007, and I didn't do anything creative with my response cards, but I was ecstatic to see this post because I always get creative when I send a response! I've had many brides thank me for returning something pretty - they love to see what I've done with it and our handwritten words!
