The Candles of Belle Fleur
Posted on Jan 21, 2009 9:48:35 AM  |  By The Blogsmaid

What do you get for the bridesmaid who has it all?  These days, I'm thinking a Belle Fleur candle would do the trick. I received one last week and was just blown away by the packaging and presentation of this elegant, oh-so-fragrant candle.  The prices vary from $48-68, but your bridesmaid will enjoy it for a long time to come.

What do you think?  Gorgeous or extravagent?

WAY too extravagant. Is that candle dipped in gold?!

If you want to spend $70 on your bridesmaids gift, get your maid a $50 gift certificate for the store where you picked out the bridesmaids dress so the cost will be a little lower for her. Then you still have $20 to buy pretty candles from somewhere affordable, or something more personal (she is in your wedding after all, you must know her pretty well!) like a magazine subscription in a subject she'll enjoy, books, a pretty (but affordable) scarf or wrap she might like, or something else small. Or even all of those things without the gift certificate if you prefer, but it just seems crazy to think of spending SO much on ONE candle.

If you hadn't listed the price, I would have thought you spent $10 for it at T.J. Maxx. It's pretty but really, who needs another candle especially one that expensive?

While pretty, another problem is if it's a destination wedding and you plan on giving the gifts there. I got a similar fancy candle from a relative for Christmas, and getting it back home wasn't too easy! The packaging is bulky and candles in glass are far too heavy to ship home.

Gorgeous AND extravagant. Have you looked at Glassybaby.com? Their votive holders are absolutely gorgeous, handmade, and come in over 70 colors. I am a huge fan!

A little extravagent although I appreciate being different. Frankly, everyone gets jewlery for their bridesmaids (usually jewlery they would never want to wear again) and it's getting a bit old. For my wedding this summer, I'm getting all my bridesmaids shoes they can wear for the wedding; something a little different but still practical.

I think my bridesmaids would be pretty pissed if I got them nothing but a candle (albeit a nice one) after they spent so much money and time to be a part of my day. I agree that jewelry is the boring go-to, but you can do something creative AND get a good value.

It's lovely, but how is the cost justified? Does it last a year? Is it scented with imported, rare oils?

I went even more simple:

No bridesmaids.

I received this Celebration candle for my engagement from my very best friend in Nyc and I have to say it literally smells like a bouquet of flowers and champagne...it's by far the best candle I have ever burned. I think I am going to give it to my bridemaids, thanks for the great idea. Some of the other Belle Fleur candles are a litlle less expensive but they have a fantastic reputation in the wedding biz.
