A DIY Guestbook
Posted on Oct 14, 2008 2:11:43 PM  |  By The Blogsmaid

I've written about photo guest books before, but I thought I'd offer up a couple of other ideas that I've seen around the wedding circuit that are fun, and personal.
A lot of the time people never look at their guest book again, so I love the idea of using a hardcover coffee table book and having your guests go wild with a Sharpe.  Find a book related to your shared the theme, like this LOVE book via Polka Dot Bride, interests, or the location (like this one from Wedding Junkie.)   Find a book you really enjoy, because you'll want to visit it again and again.
Milklove5Katiesbook2 For those of you who are more DIY inclined, I adore the idea of a lyrical guestbook.  I've made these for friends and clients alike, and, while time consuming, it's a ton of fun.  Basically, take 1 plain Kolo album (or blank album of your choice), color coordinated mini-lopes and cards, some spray adhesive and the lyrics to your intended first dance and voila!  A guestbook that enables your guests to leave you well wishes and personal thoughts.

We're hoping to do a Polaroid guest book, if we can gather enough film before it sells out.

We skipped the guest book, and didn't miss a thing. I had several people thank me because they never know what to say. So they just sign their name and it feels like they are signing into a seminar or something. I have looked at a lot of cute option but never found one to top not doing it.

I fell in love with the Steuben Glass Signature Bowl years ago, when I saw it in a magazine ....the idea reminded me of stories I heard growing up in Virginia, visiting plantations, Monticello, etc., of women 'testing' their diamond engagement rings by etching their initials into window panes to see whether they were real or not...my fiance and I bought a much cheaper Lenox bowl and found some inexpensive diamond-tipped pens online. We also supplied some little cards so that those so inclined could write a little note. The bowl got many complements from our guests, and now holds the notes and advice guests wrote.

My daughters keep their guest books in the entryway of their homes and have house guests leave a message when they visit for a meal or a weekend. A lovely record!

I am making a photo book on Costco.com and getting Silver Sharpies to have guest sign it like a year book!
