If you have a large wedding party you may have already discovered that short of a fleet of standard limos, or a music video worthy Hummer stretch, your options for getting your "troops" around town seem a little bit limited.  I thought it might be worth while to post about some of the more interesting options for group transportation.  These might be a little bit harder to find outside of major metro areas, but not impossible. I love vintage trolleys.   Not only is one great for the wedding party (and parents, photogs, videographers, etc), but it can be a great way to shuttle guests to and fro as well.  The trolley not only adds something special to photos, but it can often be more economic than a grand stretch SUV.
Trolleyaddl01 For you California girl, what could be more unique than an old Woody- like in the surfer movies.  These awesome surf buses even have boards on top!  I found them at Classic Limos in LA.

And if pink is your thing, here is a stretch called the "Piano Man".  It's Mary Kay and Jerry Lee Lewis all rolled into one!

And of course, there is always the tried and true Party Bus.

How are you moving your wedding party around town?

Why do brides feel the need to shuttle their guests? This is a crazy expense that does not need to be added to your budget. For years people have been getting themselves to and from the ceremony and the reception all by themselves. Are guests now incapable of handling their own affairs that they require someone to think and act for them? For a bridal party perhaps I am still old fashioned, it can be ok but not expected. As a bridesmaid I was stranded at a reception and had to find my way back to the Bride's house to get my car at the end of the day. While it sounds nice if you do something like this it really could be a headache.

I had a bridal party of 16 and we got the traditional party bus with a limo interior. Besides making it possible for us all to travel together its was so nice being able to step up and walk araound within the bus because manuevering in a wedding dress is a lot harder than it looks.

As for shuttling our guests we looked into it and while it did not work out based on the distnce between the church, reception and hotel I understand brides and grooms' desires to make their wedding as enjoyable and hassle free as possible. There tends to be a lot of drinking at weddings and its nice to provide shuttling so that you know everyone makes it home safe and can still relax and enjoy themselves at the wedding. In the end though we decided that while it would be nice to have a shuttle running that it was ok to depend on people being responsible and friends carpooling together to help cut down on the amount of drivers.

I attended a wedding where the guests were transported in a trolley. There was a chunk of time between the beach wedding and the beach front restraunt reception, and the trolley ride was a super fun way to spend it. The ocean breeze was lovely and it was like having our own little tour of the quaint beach community.

This is the most recent thing I've started to tackle... I wasn't going to worry about it, but it's something I'd really like to do for our guests if I can squeeze it into the budget. So many of our guests are from out of town, and everything else is doable without a rental car — shuttles are available to and from the airport, and the hotel we're advocating is right in downtown and within easy walking distance of a few dozen restaurants — but the ceremony and reception are out in wine country. Ideally, I'm hoping to find a vintage trolley service like the one you mention here. Fun for photos, fun for the guests (well, as long as it isn't raining!), and hopefully more affordable for us. :)

When my brother and his wife (who are both Marines) got married, my father (also a retired Marine), called the local vets group and used a vintage troop truck from WW2. It was like the kind you see in parades. It was unique and fitting for a military wedding. Although if you have fussy bridemaids in your wedding you might want to stick with a more traditional mode of transportation!
