I know you've all been losing sleep over my quest for the perfect wedding shoe. Well friends, I have some good news. Shrieking wildly like Mary Murphy, I'm now on the HOT TAMALE TRAIN TO THE PERFECT SHOE!!!! After buying and returning seven pairs of shoes, I've finally found two I love. I'd scoured Barney's, Bergdorfs, Saks, net-a-porter.com, Nordstrom.com etc. etc. and where did I ultimately find my shoe? The first shoe came from Zappos.com. The place everyone told me to go; I just thought I knew better. Will I ever learn? I found the second shoe at endless.com -- they have a great selection of designer brands and amazing search filters (you can filter by color "family" which is so helpful if you're looking for variations on golds or yellows). But I need your help. I love both of these shoes. Both look fabulous with my dress which looks something like this but in a soft white color, almost cream. Let me know which one you think I should go with! Here are the choices: #1. This pump by (gasp) Naturalizer is the perfect, semi-retro complement to my semi-retro, tea-length gown. And they're COMFORTABLE. And they're CHEAP-ish at $83.
#2. This pair by Taryn Rose is definitely more chic and modern with this great crinkly gold finish, although fiance said, "Cool you look like a stormtrooper!" Which I think was a compliment. (It's ok to show the groom the shoes isn't it?) Definitely the pricier pair. I'm not even telling you what they cost. And not quite as cushie as the Naturalizers, but still comfy.
So... NearlyWed Asks: Which shoe should I pick? br> br> --Margit Detweiler
Posted by: Melissa| June 20, 2008 at 12:19 PM DEFINITELY #1. It's way more wedding-ish. There is ust something about a wedge that just does not say "bride" to me. Hi, Margit! It was so nice meeting you on Monday at the luncheon! As for the shoes, I think they're both fabulous, however I'd personally go with the more comfortable pair. :) So I'm putting my vote down for the first pair. :) Good luck choosing, and happy planning!!! -Jaime @ "It's A Jaime Thing" As Margit's friend who shlepped through NY with her for two pairs of those aforementioned returned shoes, I am leaning towards pair #1. I got married in incredibly painful tiny little pumps and ended the evening in Doc Martins. They did not go with the dress but my still aching feet felt a lot better! I have also seen Margit's dress and I think the first pair is closer to what we searched for and they are more elegant. But Margit, I am sorry to see the "sneaker pump" go..... I vote for #1 also. The other one is cute but more so with a pair of great jeans or a casual dress. #1 looks like it would be perfect with the style of your dress. Good luck! I think a heel is sexier than a wedge, and I would go with the comfy shoes every time! So my vote is for #1... i know i'm late but i love shoe #1 Well, I would choose the shoe that is most comfortable. Personally, if you are going for style I would choose the second shoe because it looks very elegant and modern. However, number 1 looks comfortable and I went for comfort and style sort of when I recently chose my shoes for my wedding a couple weeks ago. #1. Much classier look. Definitely #1. Love them! Definitely #2. They're super cute, and you can wear them with almost anything dressed up or down. I don't think that the Naturalizers are as wearable after the wedding b/c they're a little fancy; I'm picturing Easter Sunday. Without seeing the dress, I opt for the Naturlizers. I find them more elegant than the Taryn Rose pair. Congratulations! All will be well, regardless of the shoes. LOVE, LOVE the naturalizer pair! Maybe in person the Taryn Rose are cooler but I think the pumps are exquisite. I like the first pair best. They are simple and elegant. With your description of the dress, it seems like these heels would be a good compliment and definitely not a distraction from the rest of your ensemble. Good luck! and may the best shoes win. :) Naturalizer! comfort is so important that day and the shoe is the perfect end to a beautiful classic dress. And so much more feminine. The wedge is cool but not as elegant - and a bride should be elegant! Best wishes! The style of the Naturalizer is more appropriate for your dress; it's more feminine. If your dress was a 1940's style retro straight skirt (Bette Davis, etc.) then you could go with the wedge. But I'm picturing a sweet tea length retro look (am I right?) and the pleated fabric of the first pair just goes better with that... I definitely like the second pair better, but they look like they look much to casual for a wedding if you ask me. Especially if you're the bride! The first pair look like wedding shoes... and I'm not sure that is a good thing. Keep looking, perfection is out there! I think #1 is fine. Considering its Naturalizer, comfy, affordable and not bad looking, I would go with those. |
