I know you've all been losing sleep over my quest for the perfect wedding shoe. Well friends, I have some good news. Shrieking wildly like Mary Murphy, I'm now on the HOT TAMALE TRAIN TO THE PERFECT SHOE!!!! After buying and returning seven pairs of shoes, I've finally found two I love. I'd scoured Barney's, Bergdorfs, Saks, net-a-porter.com, Nordstrom.com etc. etc. and where did I ultimately find my shoe? The first shoe came from Zappos.com. The place everyone told me to go; I just thought I knew better. Will I ever learn? I found the second shoe at endless.com -- they have a great selection of designer brands and amazing search filters (you can filter by color "family" which is so helpful if you're looking for variations on golds or yellows). But I need your help. I love both of these shoes. Both look fabulous with my dress which looks something like this but in a soft white color, almost cream. Let me know which one you think I should go with! Here are the choices: #1. This pump by (gasp) Naturalizer is the perfect, semi-retro complement to my semi-retro, tea-length gown. And they're COMFORTABLE. And they're CHEAP-ish at $83.
#2. This pair by Taryn Rose is definitely more chic and modern with this great crinkly gold finish, although fiance said, "Cool you look like a stormtrooper!" Which I think was a compliment. (It's ok to show the groom the shoes isn't it?) Definitely the pricier pair. I'm not even telling you what they cost. And not quite as cushie as the Naturalizers, but still comfy.
So... NearlyWed Asks: Which shoe should I pick? br> br> --Margit Detweiler
Posted by: Jessica Lynn| June 18, 2008 at 09:20 PM Ohh, I like the storm troopers! Oh Naturalizer's for sure- especially since you'll probably wear your shoes longer than most brides since you are getting them to truly match the dress. I've got naturalizers for my wedding shoes and I cannot wait to be comfortable! You could even get a shoe clip to jazz the naturalizers up :) Definitely #1! I say go with #1. They are cuter and you definitely want to be wearing comfortable shoes on your wedding day. Definately the Naturalizers, they are timeless! Ditto to the Naturalizers, they look more comfortable and have a cleaner line to my eye than #2. Plus, comfort is KEY!! Good luck! Definately go with the Naturalizers/#1!!! I know come April 2009 I will definately be thankful to have picked a comfy shoe! Comfort is key, especially on the big day:) Definitely #1 Another vote for #1. I actually like them better and think that the comfort aspect is REALLY important. Plus the fact that you'd be saving LOTS of money is an extra bonus! Another vote for #1, coming your way! Regardless of which pair you choose, though, be sure to buy some shoe cushions like these (which worked great for me): http://daintyfootings.com/bride_gift_set.html. Shoe #1 for its classic elegance, comfort and price. Nice! I vote for #1, they're adorable and anything that's comfortable is a must for a day of standing on your feet and greeting people at your wedding! My vote is for Number 2. They are both very pretty, but wedge heels offer more support and you may be able to wear them longer (which means money well spent!). Although, Nutralizers are comfy shoes and they are oh so cute..... Now you have me torn! :) I would go with number one just because I think with number two you start drawing too much attention away from you and then people start looking at your shoes. If you are going to step out of the box a little with your adorable retro dress, you don't want to overdue it with the shoes. However, both are fabulous shoes! props! The Naturalizer. Just looks more like a wedding shoe and they are comfortable!! By the by, I really like the naturalizer shoes and don't think wedges are appropriate. Go with #1! They will look amzaing with your dress! The Naturalizer pair! As much as I love wedges, I think it's a bit clunky for a wedding. If you take those pumps out of context (minus the wedding gown), you could definitely wear them again since they're such a neutral color. As all the others have said, comfy is key! Although i do like the Taryn Rose option, i'm definitely voting for the Naturalizer because i think the wedges might look too chunky with that length of dress. Plus, you'll have a more feminine, sophisticated walk if you're wearing heels. For some reason wedges make me feel like i'm clomping all over the place, and that's not what you want to feel like walking down the aisle! #1 unless your dress is unusually casual. Definitely #1 I'm leaning toward #1. I think they would be much cuter with a tea-length gown. I also found some really cute mary jane satin pumps from jcrew.com on SALE, which I purchased. They are probably not as comfortable but it's another option. I love the first pair of shoes. Okay, so I was totally going to vote for #2 because they would look super cute with jeans after the wedding. But after reading all the comments I'm thinking they're a bit too clunky and casual to go with your beautiful wedding dress. So, I'm voting for #1 -- as a Naturalizer fan I think they're super cute and sure to be super comfy for your big day! |

i'm leaning towards #1. although its a bit more bridal-y, its cheaper and you COULD wear them again. annnd i'm not all about the wedge shoe in general so i think that hurt the chances of #2 :)
