And the Winner Is...

Shoe #1. Thank you for all your votes and, um, soleful comments. With 29 votes for the Naturalizer pair (although Julie, Jordan and Amanda seemed a bit torn!) and only one solid vote for the Taryn Rose wedgies, I think I must go with the majority. Even my mom weighed in ("wedges aren't appropriate" -- sheesh mom). I'll show you a snapshot of the shoes in action as soon as I get a pedicure. --Margit Detweiler

VOTE! On The Perfect Wedding Shoe
Posted on Jun 18, 2008 8:19:05 PM  |  By Margit

I know you've all been losing sleep over my quest for the perfect wedding shoe. Well friends, I have some good news. Shrieking wildly like Mary Murphy, I'm now on the HOT TAMALE TRAIN TO THE PERFECT SHOE!!!! After buying and returning seven pairs of shoes, I've finally found two I love. I'd scoured Barney's, Bergdorfs, Saks, net-a-porter.com, Nordstrom.com etc. etc. and where did I ultimately find my shoe? The first shoe came from Zappos.com. The place everyone told me to go; I just thought I knew better. Will I ever learn? I found the second shoe at endless.com -- they have a great selection of designer brands and amazing search filters (you can filter by color "family" which is so helpful if you're looking for variations on golds or yellows). But I need your help. I love both of these shoes. Both look fabulous with my dress which looks...

Wedding Bloggers Unite!
Posted on Jun 16, 2008 7:15:32 PM  |  By Margit

You have nothing to lose but your...exclusivity? Brides.com, authors of Wedded Bits, threw a lovely luncheon for wedding bloggers today and invited the "bee all end all" of bloggers, including, yes, Bee from Wedding Bee , as well as bloggers from Always a Bridesmaid, It's a Jaime Thing, Brooklyn Bride, Eco-Chic Weddings, Perfect Bound, Wedding Dish, From I Will To I Do and yours truly. [The bloggers at lunch with designer Angel Sanchez] [Angel, his gorgeous gowns and Michelle Preli of Brides.com] [Anne Chertoff of iVillage, Angel, me and Mayra Castillo of AlwaysaBridesmaid ] [Angel and Emily Anderson of Eco-Chic Weddings] > [I like this because it looks like I'm saying something totally important.] They cast it as a "potluck lunch" and, no, they didn't make us bring our own covered dish. Instead they asked each of the bloggers to send along an "item or a blog post" to inspire...

Marriage License 101
Posted on Jun 13, 2008 5:33:18 PM  |  By Margit

What do you wear to get your marriage license? "Honey who cares?" garbled my fiance, toothbrush in mouth. "But it's almost like we're getting married!" I proclaimed. "Oh come on, this is just the license." After staring at my closet for a good minute I decided on jeans, t-shirt and sneakers, thinking I'd be more comfortable. About 10 minutes later, fiance was ready to go. He was wearing a crisp white button down shirt and nice slacks. "Hey!" "What?" He smiled. "We're getting married right?" And that pretty much sums up our relationship. Here we go... * At 9AM the city clerk's office was filled with groups of duos in all shapes and sizes (You must go with your spouse to be). Clearly some had taken the day off (and were in jeans!) and others were suited up, on their way to work. And everyone had this half-bemused, half-confused look...

29 Days To Go! The Status Report...
Posted on Jun 6, 2008 7:27:23 PM  |  By Margit

With an invite list of 70, we have 59 coming. So far. I have not lost 20 lbs. Maybe 4. The bridesmaid dresses in "carrot" are in, altered and, allegedly, stunning. The flower girl dress and matching carrot sash (which just arrived at my sister's house -- see above) are super cute. I have not, as my friend Diane requested, taken time for myself to bask in this joyous time. The band can learn to play "Love, American Style!" My shoes (I got the Stuart Weitzman's) don't quite work with my dress. I need new shoes. My dress, however, is more beautiful at every fitting. I didn't realize that it would have these funky tiers of tulle flowing from the bottom of the dress. I can hardly stand the glamour! Fiance decided against the Paul Smith shoes and went with just-as-nice shoes (and half the price) from endless.com. Saw the...
