Great Gift Idea for New Parents
Posted on Nov 10, 2008 10:00:00 AM  |  By LizKrieger

Esp_onsie I have a bunch of new-mom friends right now (and a few more in the coming year) and for the first few weeks/months, they are uniformly obsessed with three things: when the baby eats, sleeps, and poops. And given that this triad pretty much sums up what newborns ever do and each one is vital things to a baby's health, my pals' single-mindedness makes sense. In fact, I've noticed that most of them have a scrap of paper on which they note these important activities.

But I was recently introduced to a really cool new product called—what else?—the Eat Sleep Poop Journal ($15). It's a neatly organized little diary in which mom and dad can write down when and how each occurs—sort of like a well-organized spreadsheet, spiral-bound and easy to tuck in a bag.

I know there are a lot of baby products out there that just add clutter to your life and seem entirely unncessary or overpriced; and since I'm not yet a mom I can't know for sure if the scrap of paper fluttering around the house works just as well as this journal. But for frazzled, sleep-deprived new moms who are scrambling to make sure their baby is adjusting well to life outside the womb, it sort of seems brilliant. A great, inexpensive gift to give new parents, too—especially when you throw in a cheeky onesie or bib. (See above.)
