What is your home decor dream?
Posted on Feb 9, 2009 1:28:00 PM  |  By KristinAppenbrink

The economy is terrible, and it's depressing. No news there. So, since I'm feeling a bit dreamy today, let's suspend rationality, and dream about home decor.

Here's the scenario. You won a contest. The prize of this contest is that you get to pick one home decor item and cost is no object. There are no restrictions, except that it has to be an object. You can't win the contest and ask for a room to be remodeled.

Here's what I would ask for:

the Womb Chair and Ottoman by Eero Saarinen sold at Knoll for a starting price of $3,261.

I would ideally like it in either of the following colors:

What would your dream home decor item be? And share the link if you've got it.

A Ghost Louis chair! I used to think they were ridiculous, but after Real Simple lovingly included it in their 2007 Home Design must-haves, I realized that they really are perfect in ever way!!

Oooh! Eames lounge chair and ottoman in cherry leather: http://hivemodern.com/products/?view=sub_product&sid=1475&cid=2&cid2=3

Although I'd probably choose a significant piece of art, instead. Anyone with $4K can have an Eames lounge, but an original piece by one of my favorite artists would be one of a kind.

Bamagirl, I saw a pair of Louis Ghost chairs on my local Craigslist for $450 a few weeks ago. There are some good deals out there...

*I* think this is an object. It’s a décor item. It makes my kitchen look pretty and it’s super useful! My dream is always to have TWO ovens in my kitchen, one for baking and one for cooking. But. I would also love to have a Viking Stove. Hahaha this combines the two in one.

So incredibly sexy and definitely in stainless steel, no color needed.

Looks like it retails in the range of $9-$11K. This confirms it that it will take a contest for me to ever get a stove like this.

W, given that this is an imaginary contest. I rule that the Viking Stove is an object, and that if you were the winner, that would be your prize. It looks like a wonderful choice. But I think it might be wider than my entire kitchen.

Heman Miller Eames Lounge Chair. Hands down.

Hahaha. Thanks! In this imaginary dream I also have an amazing kitchen to go with this amazing stove that will be delivered by Saturday.
If not, I will sacrifice counter space for this stove!

bamagirl3525: I totally hear you on the Louie Ghost chair! I actually just bought (a real) one from a lady on craigslist for half the usual price. Needless to say, it is absolutely amazing in every way.

Now that I have my Louie Ghost chair, my dream item would be a Barcelona chair in black leather. It's perfect. http://www.dwr.com/product/barcelona-chair.do?keyword=barcelona&sortby=ourPicks

I would probably have to say a "sleep by numbers bed". I think sleep is the most important thing and getting a good nights sleep would be easy to do on one of these beds.

Our 1915 bungalow dreams of a Mission Style bed. I found a picture of the perfect bedframe at http://www.clarnerwoodworks.com/images/gallery/beds/mission-large.jpg.

The photo setting made me smile. It looks so peaceful and restful that right then and there I decided on a new wall color: slumber green!
