A few months ago I had the pleasure of meeting Yvestown, a lovely blogger who lives in Belgium and it was quite enjoyable for me to put a face behind a blog I'd been reading for nearly a year. Yvestown is authored by Yvonne Eijkenduijn (bio/interview here) and on Yvestown she writes about her home and some of her craft projects, books that she loves to read, places she visits (like Paris!), and life in general. Her blog is quite popular because her style is so fresh and cute, women really seem to love how well she uses primary colors in a home without children (!) and most are shocked to learn that Yvonne's husband Boris is not only keen on her decorating style but loves the bright colors and heavy use of floral patterns and polka dots. I met him and asked what he thought of living in a "dollhouse" and he smiled and said it was great and that he really likes how his wife pulls things together. All together now, "Awwww!". What a sweetheart! Due to the success of her blog, Yvonne recently decided to pull together a series of books using Blurb, a site created for self publishing books. The first book in the series is called "The Yvestown Book - The New Old House" and shows what her previous home in Holland looked like.Text is minimal, it's all about the eye candy, and after previewing it myself on Blurb I realized that I simply must order it. She promises that more books will follow... And I say Bring It because we need more real homes, real spaces, in books. I'm so tired of seeing the same old overly-designed rooms with $5,000 coffee tables! Congrats Yvonne on your new beautiful book! (images from yvestown)

Lucky you for meeting Yvonne. By accident I stumbled across the blogosphere about a year ago. Yvestown and Yvonne are inspiring.
