Have you heard of Mahar Drygoods? I just love this little handmade for kids shop. It's one of those very special spots online where you just know the second you enter that it was created with lots of love and care.
Robert Mahar is the owner and lives in sunny southern California and this shop is his pride and joy, he spends ridiculous amounts of time curating everything in it with his expert eye for quality and detail and he spreads the love by not just sitting idle on the web waiting for customers - he regularly takes part in craft fairs (especially around the holidays) to promote his shop and the sellers who feature work there. I think that this is one of many reasons why Mahar Drygoods is so successful, Robert really goes the extra mile to promote his shop.
It's hard in this economy to run a small business, especially when you have a site offering handmade goods because more and more handmade sites are popping up online and the competition is growing. Mahar Drygoods still manages to stand head and shoulders above the rest for so many reasons. Please check them out because who knows, you may fall for some of their goodies yourself? I especially charmed by the party favors page, it makes me want to be a kid all over again!
NOTE: For those of you in California and Chicago, here is a little event information for you... The Mahar Drygoods portable emporium will set up shop every weekend through the end of December, beginning Sunday November 9th with the Patchwork Show in Santa Ana, CA. Their schedule will be posted on the Mahar Drygoods Blog each week and includes stops in San Francisco, Los Angeles and Chicago. Fun!
Have a lovely weekend everyone!
