I just heard about the coolest project initiated by artist Renee Garner from Wolfie and the Sneak - a coloring book called Peer featuring the work of her favorite artists! Thank you Renee for writing to me to share this project. So here's the scoop... each artist was invited to draw a self-portrait and a color book resulted. If this isn't the coolest book idea, I don't know what is! Perfect for adults or a great way to bring art to your children too. I like that Renee has gone a step further with this project to invite those who purchase the book to get involved, "Already a work of art in itself, when you color it you're adding to the value by collaborating with us! And once they're colored what do you do? Share them in a flickr group set up to document whole project, which was the brilliant Lisa Solomon's idea". The book is 8 1/2 x 8 1/2" perfect bound, with removable pages for easy coloring and/or framing. The pages are acid free and will last longer than a lifetime if cared for. For $48 + shipping (available exclusively at the Peer shop) you'll receive 25 archival prints from artists all over the world: Kate Bingaman-Burt, Will Bryant, Lisa Congdon, Stephanie DosReis, Camilla Engman, Jessica Gonacha, Frances Hawthorne, Abbey Hendrickson, Jennifer Judd-McGee, Sandra Juto, Kelly Lynn Jones, Katey Nicosia (One Good Bumblebee), HernĂ¡n Paganini (puloverchito), Shannon Rankin (Selflesh), Danna Ray (Groundwork), Jen Ray ( corduroy.etsy.com), Justin Richel, Julia Rothman, Bonnie Rue (Model Citizen), Heather Smith Jones, Lisa Solomon, Sub-Studio, Shauna Alterio & Stephen Loidolt (Something's Hiding in Here), Julianna Swaney (aka Oh My Cavalier!) and of course the lady behind it all -- Renee Garner from Wolfie and the Sneak. Congratulations Renee! (images from renee garner)

Thank you so much for spreading the word about this, Holly! I feel really lucky to have met and made so many friends on the web, and the coloring book is a great example of that. . . but so are you! You're an invaluable resource to the www community of independent culture and design!
