Painting your walls can make a tremendous difference in your home. It completely changes the look and feel of any room. But as with everything else, there are now concerns about the traditional paints that we've all been using, and we now have eco-friendly options. One option being the new Elements line from California Paints. It isn't just low VOC (volatile organic compound), this paint has zero VOC. The EPA doesn't have definitive information on the health effects caused by VOCs (read their information about VOCs and indoor air quality here). But since some VOCs have been shown to cause cancer in animals, my vote is to be be better safe than sorry. In addition to promoting healthy air quality, the Elements line also has Microban in the paint. I'd mainly heard about Microban in things like knife handles and cutting boards, but it turns out there are several products that include Microban. The goal behind including it in paint is that it will help prevent mildew and odor from forming. I think that next time I'm itching to paint I'll be looking into a zero VOC option. And pricing on a gallon of the Elements paint isn't that much more than other high-quality paints, ranging from $35-$40 per gallon. What about you? Have you used a low VOC, or eco paint? Would you consider doing so?

Hmm...I'm always glad to see more no-VOC options, but they are still so expensive! Also, why would they go environmental w/ the VOCs, but then include Microban, which has no proven health value, and uses triclosan in it beside?
