Have you heard of Top Design? It's a reality series that kicks off season two on Bravo next week on Wednesday, September 3rd where 13 aspiring interior designers battle it out for cash and prizes ($100,000 and a four-page spread in Elle Décor magazine to be exact). The first season was hosted by Todd Oldham with Jonathan Adler, Kelly Wearstler and Margaret Russell as the ever stylish and to-the-point judges. This year, India Hicks is the new host and Todd Oldham will mentor the designers for Season 2. (More info about the show here). I'm currently based in Germany until the end of the year so I won't be able to tune in but I'll no doubt try to catch the episodes online if I can. Will you be tuning in? Here is a glimpse of the 13 designers... Who do you already have your eye on? I think it holds promise and should be an exciting season -- Are you looking forward to it or do you find these reality design shows a bit overrated or bleh? Your thoughts? Honestly, I sorta care about the design projects by I really just want to check out Kelly Wearstler's AMAZING wardrobe and hairstyle-of-the-week, hear what the clever Margaret Russell will say about each room, and count how many quirky expressions Jonathan Adler will throw out in a single episode. "See ya later decorator!" and "For Reals" always puts a smile on the my face. The guy is just blessed with personality and wit. I'm also interested in seeing what India Hicks will add to the show and of course, I'll be checking out her hair and wardrobe too. Oh and side point: Is it me or is Todd Oldham getting younger and hotter with each passing year? (images from top design, bravo television)
Posted by: Stephanie| August 29, 2008 at 09:27 AM Hi Holly!, enjoying your Germany posts! I'll be guest blogging on Top Design on www.bloggingtopdesign.blogspot.com this season. Should be great! LOVE top Design!! Love jonathan adler. Can't wait to see some great design! Maybe it's just me, but these Bravo shows repeat themselves so many times, I no longer feel they're "must watch tv" when they first air. I catch them when I catch them. Sure I miss some of the conversations, but I get enough of the action on one or two of the shows to follow my friends talking about last night's drama. And I have so many colleagues and friends who have auditioned for these projects I feel the REAL DRAMA is in the casting room! John I do think most of the design/reality shows are kinda bleh but Top Design has such a great cache of judges (and host and mentor), it's in a league of it's own. I'm excited! I can't wait to see what spin the producers from PR & TC put on TD. See you later, decorator! I used to work with Nathan. Go, Nathan!!! So, I have a reason to catch a bit of it. In all honesty, I hate these shows, but, for hs sake I will tune in, and I wish him well. He's a lovely, kind and talented person and he deserves to have good thngs come his way. I'm hoping this is great exposure for him. |
