I agree that Katey has a tinge of jealousy, who wouldn't ? If the accident had not happened, Tinker and Katey (IMO) would have naturally gravitated to one another. I believe the entire time Eve has done what is best for herself, while all the while, Katey has given Eve the right of way, out of a sense of civility/obligation.
I agree that it is pretty ballsy the way that Katey decidedly leaves her job after getting a promotion. The interesting tidbit is that Katey is afforded her ability to get her place, a splurge day, and security to switch jobs from the money allotted to Eve after the accident. Katey pocketed that money without mention to Eve and invested. I love Eve's reliance on her Father's advice, proven quite successful! I agree that Katey is quite accommodating, she is like a chameleon without fear. I envy her in social settings.
I was hoping Katey and Wallace would work out to give Eve and Tinker a guilty conscience for abandoning their faithful friend while galavanting overseas without much thought of Katey.
I think Tinker is completely in an obligatory state with Eve. I think Eve knows in her heart that Tinker started the relationship with a sense of obligation. Just like Eve denies her Father's assistance to avoid a sense of obligation, in similar fashion with Tinker. Tinker is loyal to his sense of obligation ;whereas, Eve shirks all sense of obligation.

Katey and Eve's friendship is pretty one sided. Katey always seems to be available but where is Eve? She seems to take advantage of all her friends-Tinker and Katey.

I also wish Katey would explore a relationship with Wallace. She obviously has wishful feelings for Tinker. She seemed surprised by the engagement. I get the impression that she hasn't given up.

I thought quitting her job after the promotion was very Katey. She suddenly realized that she was going to be in a rut. She has a way of subtly getting what she wants. Will she get her man?

I have encountered this situation myself many times. Working for tips myself, I strongly believe in tipping but only when a service has been offered to me. My trick is if I don't have the cash on hand, just surprise them at the end of my stay.

I'll ask the concierge when someone typically works so I can get them the tip they rightfully deserve. This also works out great because I tip higher on people being genuine rather than opening a door and expecting a tip.

Don't worry, I tip you too concierge, especially if you can tell me how to get to the nearest Starbucks!

Katey is growing and taking on new adventures. Sometimes I think she is being careless and flying by the seat of her pants, but I'm glad she is enjoying life and pushing her career.

I do wish Katy would forget Tinker. I rally don't know what to think about him. Is he really just a spoiiled young man, one who is used to getting his way? Or could it be that Tinker really cares about others? Tinker and Eve are always jet setting around. Go for Wallace. Know there's a catch!

Katy has a special relationship with Eve. Eve is so lucky to have friend like her. Their friendship is one that is everlasting.

As far as Eve and Katey's friendship goes, I think civility and obligation are playing a much bigger part in their friendship than loyalty and love. I am hoping that will change as the book progresses and that Katey and Eve find themselves close friends again. I feel like they are both lonely.

I think Katey is self-aware, yet I think she has left some things to chance - but not too much, which is a divergence from how I pictured her before. I am glad to see her take some chances. I wonder if this might be a bit of a rebellion after losing her chance with Tinker.

Katey has a crush on Tinker and has been unable to shake it. Part of it might be because she felt Tinker had similar feelings for her, but due to the accident, they were unable to explore those feelings. There was no "closure" for her. I really wish she would pay more attention to Wallace. Even if she got that chance with Tinker, the relationship would be tainted with the previous proposal to Eve.

Tinker is so endearing. He seems to suffer from trying to please everyone -- not that he doesn't include himself among those he wants to please. He is torn between his heart and civility/obligation. However, I the end, I don't think that playing both sides of that coin is going to work to his advantage.

I used to ride the commuter train to work and when asked by a fellow traveler if I'd like to take their seat, gladly obliged. I would also do the same for other women, men, and anyone who had an armload, kids or whatever with them. I'm a young woman who had an easy time standing when others might not. Most of the time, I would get up before anyone else, including young men. We could all use more kindness in the world and I always felt good about giving someone else a more comfortable ride to work or wherever they might be headed.
