The idea of “fall colors” usually conjures up images of  burnt oranges, deep saffron yellows, earthy browns, and other muted hues – but it IS possible to create a festive, autumn-appropriate table using bright colors too!

The Plentiful Cornocopia Invitation pictured at top ($1.59 at Polka Dot Design) is a great example of a vibrant autumn color palette.  Apple red, poppy orange, and yellow-green provide a great contrast to the rich chocolate brown… and you can carry this same color palette into your fall or Thanksgiving tabletop design!  Here are a few ideas:

1. Crater Bowls ($24.95 - $39.95 at cb2)
I love the look of these 2-tone bowls – glossy green, orange, or red on the inside and deep iron black on the outside. They’re perfect for displaying colorful fall fruits, floating candles, or glass bubble balls for a decidedly modern centerpiece!

2. Candle Carver ($11.99 at Kitchen Kapers)
Create your own colorful “red delicious” and “granny smith” candles with this nifty little carving gadget! Fill the carved “apple candles” with tea lights, group them together on a pedestal plate, or use them to line the table runner. (Make sure to serve up some yummy apple cocktails & desserts at this party!)

3. Fallin’ Trivets - ($30 at notNeutral)
These unique, brightly-colored leaves are a sure-fire conversation starter for any fall table!.They can serve as part of a fabulously modern fall tablescape design even before you put them to use when the hot dishes come out! (Great autumn hostess gift idea, too!)

4. Vibrant Fall Flowers
Colorful blooms aren’t just for spring & summer! This gorgeous fall wedding bouquet by Janie Medley Flora Design is great inspiration for a beautiful Thanksgiving floral arrangement. It features garden roses, cymbidium orchids gloriosa lilies, orange pin cushions, fern curls and billy balls. {via brides.com / photo by Jeff Greenough}

What colors are you planning to decorate with for the autumn holidays this year? Are you leaning towards the traditional autumn hues or are you planning something a little different?
