Adorable Baby Banoffis

Easyent_banoffis

Aside from cocktails, I don’t often post recipes here at celebrations since the food editors already do such a great job, but since food IS a huge part of entertaining, I thought it would be fun to feature a super cute dessert from a wonderful book by Darina Allen called Easy Entertaining today. This adorable Baby Banoffis is meant to be served individually in mini dishes, which is perfect for parties, and is guaranteed to impress your guests!

Ingredients
• 14 oz can condensed milk
• 8-12 digestive biscuits
• 3 bananas
• Freshly squeezed juice of 1 lemon
• 8 oz whipped cream
• Toasted flaked almonds
• Chocolate curls made from about 6 oz chocolate

Directions:
To make the toffee, put the unopened can of condensed milk into a saucepan and cover with hot water. Bring to a boil, cover and simmer for 3 hours.

Break a biscuit into each glass or bowl. Peel and slice the bananas and toss in the lemon juice. Top with a little toffee. Put a blob of lightly whipped cream in the top. Sprinkle with flaked almonds and decorate with a few chocolate curls.

What are your favorite desserts to serve at get-togethers? Do you have a go-to recipe that you can always rely on in a pinch?

Um what are "digestive biscuits" I am not familiar with them. And by a "tin" of condensed milk do you mean a can? This sounds very British to me, is this from a British cookbook by chance? That might explain the difference in terms. But it does look delish...too bad bananas are not for me

I know what digestive biscuits are, but they are definitely not those sugar covered things that are in the picture.

Hi Wendy -
Digestive biscuits are semi-sweet biscuits or cookies that are popular in the UK, but also available at certain import stores and even Amazon.com:

The author of Easy Entertaining is from Ireland... :)

What does it mean to cover condensed milk with hot water? Not familiar with that technique.
