Here's a quick and easy centerpiece idea that still looks impressive! Even if you aren't using a tropical zen theme for your table, the same steps that went into creating this example can be tailored to any type of theme, colors, and flowers you want to feature. The shape of the vase and the contemporary feel of the river rocks makes the concept very versatile. Here's a quick breakdown how to recreate this at home: You'll need: Steps: 1. Cut the floral foam to fit within the vase, leaving 1.5-2" of empty space between the top of the foam and the top of the vase. 2. Fill the area above the foam with black river rocks, completely covering the foam, then level out until you're happy with the look. 3. Insert the orchid leaves at an angle through the rocks and into one side of the foam, allowing the leaves to spill out over one edge of the vase. 4. Remove the stem from the pin cushion (or whichever bloom you're using), and set it right next to the orchid leaves. That's it! Don't you love it when things are easy? :) *The tropical flower bloom pictured here is called Pincushion Protea. In the example, I used a faux red version purchased at a local craft & floral supply, so you can check for these at places like Michael's, Joann Fabrics, and similar shops. Faux versions in orange are available at save-on-crafts.com. Fresh red pincushion is available at wholesale-tropical-flowers.com. What other types of blooms do you think would look good in this centerpiece?
