St. Patrick's Day
Festive St. Patrick's Day Drinks

St. Patrick's Day is widely acknowledged as an incredibly lively and boisterous holiday, mainly due to its mode of celebration: indulging in plenty of Irish beer and cocktails. If you're planning to host your own St. Patty's Day celebration vs. getting rowdy with the crowd at your local pub, here's a quick guide to some fun and festive beverages you can enjoy at home:

First up: Beer!
No St. Patty's Day soirée is complete without traditional pints of Guinness. And what's up with the electric green beer? This tradition started in the U.S. -- and there's a very simple method to the madness: a few drops of green food coloring + beer = green beer. Gotta love those 30-second recipes!

Next: Irish-Themed Cocktails
Pictured above, both from cocktailtimes.com:
Leprechaun's Irish Coffee: Irish whiskey, Kahlua, and half & half.
Dublin Dream: Irish Mist Liqueur, Irish Cream, vodka, Chambord Black Raspberry Liqueur, and fresh cream.

Last but Not Least: Green Sodas and Bottled Drinks
Green sodas and beverages with contemporary green packaging are a super-easy way to create a hip drink display, as well as offer great alternatives for guests who prefer non-alcoholic options. Some of my personal favorites: Green Apple Jones Soda, Sparkling Pear IZZE, and Rescue (Green Tea-flavored) Vitamin Water.

I love the look of green beer! Who knew that's all there was to the recipe! :)

I'm not a big beer drinker myself, but I definitely wouldn't turn away an Irish Coffee!

And don't forget tea! The Irish drink the most tea per capita than any other country in the world. And with some of us thinking about our health even on festive days, one can celebrate with green tea. Just don't over-brew it, as so many of us do. It can't take boiling water, just steaming, or it will taste like overcooked veggies. And find a good green leaf, not the dust and fannings of many grocery store tea bags.

All of them look fabulous! I made irish chocolate cupcakes with irish creme and grand marnier liquors and topped them with orange creme sauce! So i guess I'm all set for St.Paddy's day:)

Be careful with the green beer as the evening progresses. The food coloring can make a real mess!
