Our Associate Editor Rebekah has been raving about these La Canadienne boots ($334.95 at Zappos) since she first put them on. And now I want a pair, too. Here’s why: 1. Black patent boots will never go out of style Basically, these boots are the solution to that terrible problem of what to put on your feet when you have to trek to work in winter wetness. If you’re going to splurge on a pair of shoes, these seem like just about the most practical option – you’ll probably get a lot more wear out of them than you would a pair of Swarovski-encrusted satin sandals. And best of all, you won't be afraid you'll ruin them when you step outside.
Posted by: Stephanie| February 06, 2009 at 12:11 PM Two things wrong with these boots....(1) the tread on the bottom is practically non-existent so while your feet may be dry your bum will not when you slip all over in these things. (2) There is no ecstatic that I can see next to the zipper so unless you are a toothpick the boots probably won't zip up and therefore will be useless. The treads are rubber and textured, but certainly not as thick as, say, a hiking boot. Rebekah claims she hasn't fallen yet! There's also a (hidden) elastic panel about 4" long just behind the zipper. You're right, Stephanie, $335 is steep for any pair of shoes, but we haven't yet found a great high-heeled rain boot for less. I'll be sure to update the post if we do - in the meantime, please share any suggestions! |

I want those shoes, but I can't allow myself to spend $335 on rain boots. Please share if you ever find a less expensive, but equally stylish, version. I'm on the lookout for a pair now!
