Swimsuits for the "Well-Endowed"

Say it loud: I'm curvy and I'm proud!

I'm glad that being muscular and curvy have never given me any servere complexes that come from living in our rail-thin model worshipping society. However, no matter how loud and proud I am, it's hard to find clothing that's both sexy without being too revealing and classy without having to cover up everything.

My shape is great--I'm a healthy 34E (European sizing) or 36DD (American sizing)  and very muscular through my backside and legs (thanks Mom and Dad). But, with summer in full swing it's always hard finding a flattering suimsuit.

Therefore, I thought I would share some of my favorite swimsuit lines that look out for women "that offer a little more to the world." Wink wink!

Shoshanna

After finding sucess in her ready-to-wear collection in 1998, founder Shoshanna Lonstein Gruss launched a swimsuit line in 2001. Born out of her own frustrations finding swimwear for her shapiler body, Shoshanna sells her two-piece suits in seperates and by your bra/bottom size (tops:petite/small A-DD or Medium/large A-DDD...based on your back and cup size) (bottoms: Petite- Extra Large).

Anne Cole

The Anne Cole line has marked it's success in making cruvier women feel confident at pools and beaches around the world. Whether a one-piece or a bikini, the suits support your body perfectly.

Malia Mills

This is one of my favorite, favorite, favorite lines! Why? Their mission statement is simple: "Make great fitting swimwear so women would feel good about shopping and wearing swimwear." The company creates tops to fit your specific bra size and cuts bottoms to fit specific shapes. Brilliant!

*This suit was actually featured in our May issue...click here to see! And find a $50 discount on Malia Mills suits exculsively for Real Simple readers by clicking here (expires Aug. 31st, 2008).

I get frustrated by the yearly "perfect swimsuit for your body" articles that never, ever address my main complaint and a very common one: cellulite. I love going to swimming pools and the beach but I absolutely cannot bear to expose my upper thighs. When will there be a "perfect swimsuit " article for the cellulite-plagued woman?

I've been searching for several months and have yet to find a swimsuit that fits me - even the most expensive ones! My complaint: I can't wear a bikini and all of the one-piece or tank-style suits have built-in bras and they are far too small for my DD bustline. If they fit my bust they are several sizes too big everywhere else. Where can I possibly find a swimsuit that won't cost me more than an arm or a leg??

Oh, I too have been endowed with curves, much like you ;p
When I having a good day, I'll go for the two piece much like the first one you have pictured. On the off days, I always go for the one-piece that gives me a longer look.

A day at a community pool will prove that the swim suit manufacturers have very little concern for the actual consumer. A few wrinkles across the stomach doesn't hide a figure flaw. Let alone the fact that most women are chasing after children and need some sort of rear coverge while thigh high in the pool. Tankinis are hard to find but all sizes could greatly benefit. We appreciate color and pattern, but practicality is key. ie-underwires, double lining, pattern, and coverage.

Where is the swim suit for the modest woman?

I want to go swimming/play in water --not show off my body; I don't like to fix my butt in public... It's disgusting to see and to do... some Ms. Manners type of propriety...
So many little girls are trained to take care of their swimsuit wedgy in public... what are we teaching them..

For all girls & women who want to look elegant/ feminine yet modest there is nothing out there...
