Love Paris? You’ll Adore Little Brown Pen

My friends run a shop called Little Brown Pen where they sell fine art photography and illustration. Husband and wife Nichole and Evan Robertson live in New Jersey but also spend a considerable amount of time each year in Paris. Both capture the city in their own unique way — Nichole takes lovely photos and Evan illustrates “his” Paris. Here is some of their latest work below…

Illustrated Pet Portraits

Let’s face it: we love our pets and do all sorts of crazy things to show it from dressing them up to placing them in designer totes to carry around. It’s just how we roll! In addition to everything else we do to show Spot and Felix how much we adore them, there’s another great idea out there and it just so happens to make an excellent gift for a friend, too. It’s the gift of giving an illustrated pet portrait (which has been around forever I know). What makes this so “new” is that you can have one made for you by an independent artist who won’t charge an arm and a leg (or tail!). Just search online marketplaces like Etsy…

Jonathan Adler: Show Your Style

If you are a fan of Jonathan Adler then you may want to check out the Show Your Style page on his website. It’s where you can find photos submitted by some truly Adleraholic customers who have shared images from their nest showing how his products look in real spaces. This is a nifty feature on the site and I thought I’d share a few peeks to inspire you today.

Vintage Finds @ AM Radio

I LOVE the vintage finds in etsy shop, AM Radio. I envy those of you who live in the states and can easily order from them because I’m currently in Germany and it costs an arm and a leg to have stuff shipped over here. But wow, AM Radio has the best stuff — so carefully curated and unique. Would you like to see some of my favorite things?

Choosing Wallpaper

I’m moving in less than a month and I’m already planning things like what to paint, where to wallpaper and display and storage ideas…in my head, on paper, in notebooks, in Photoshop… I’m OCD like that (OCD = Outta Control Decorator). Thing is, there is SO MUCH out there to pick from these days and with so much on the market available that looks great, how do you decide? Well here are 5 ways to help you choose wallpaper, the current big decision that I’m trying to make. Maybe my tips will help you…

Small Talk Studio

There is a shop that I mentioned in a piece for Etsy (here) that I wrote but I wasn’t able to go into detail about it since I had so many other sellers in that article to talk about. Now that I have a little more time, I’d like to focus in on the work of Small Talk Studio. Like you, I go through phases when it comes to purchasing, sometimes it is art and other times I’m all about ceramics or vintage pillows. It usually depends on what I need in my home at the moment but it can also be due to influence — what I’m seeing a lot of on blogs or in magazines that grabs my attention.

Daisy Janie Organic Fabrics

Eco fabrics keep getting better and better! Jan DiCintio, founder of Daisy Janie, is a surface and textiles designer who just launched an organic modern fabric collection called Geo Grand. Geo Grand is bright and bold in 6 fresh patterns and colorways like aqua, sky, espresso, chartreuse and white. Jan’s self-produced fabrics are 100% GOTS*certified organic cotton and are similar in feel/weight to quilters’ cottons so you can use them for home decorating and crafts in addition to creating your next quilt or throw pillow! My favorite of the bunch is ogee, shown directly below. It’s lovely and I can imagine it as throw pillows on a white sofa like mine!

Design & Make Your Own Lampshade Kit

Looking to match your shade to the drapes? Or the wallpaper? Or are you simply looking to have a lampshade that no one else has? Well you’re in luck. I was on the Duffy website earlier and noticed a clever and affordable DIY self assembly lampshade kit that I have to share because It’s fantastic. The kit is called Stick It (great name!) and it allows you to create your own lampshade design in minutes. You can stick your own designs onto the sticky outside layer using wallpaper, papers, fabric, whatever you would like! The shade kit is under $20 and can be used for either a floor light or pendant lamp so it’s both affordable and versatile (available in 30 or 45 cm).
