1 Saying To Help Every Mom Feel Appreciated

Go ahead & CRY! I was a new (one ofthe first) female correctional officer at a men’s institution at Chino, Ca. I asked the Sergeant for help transporting l8 men from one institution to another, but he nastily said “Do your job”. I should mention it was my FIRST day on the job there. I begged him for help in a very professional way; needless to say, another officer opened the door & allowed an escape. Since my druggie husband had just left myself & 3 kids, yes, I cried when the Sergeant was SCREAMING at me thru gritted teeth ‘BE PROFESSIONAL!” You betcha I cried!! I’d do it again! I fought the charge, ended up with a loss of 5% pay for 3 months, but not fired as I thought I would be. This guy had NO idea of what mercy was! The inmate was picked up by investigators who saw him strolling toward the freeway, thank God. I didn’t have a key to the door he walked out of, nor a handcuff key. My “co worker” let me ride the blame, and to this day, I say “Yes, Sister; let it out!”
