It’s happened again: You opened up your just-used dishwasher to see a rack full of broken glasses and shards of glass strewn all over the bottom. Before you reach in to blindly fish out the glass (because sticking your hand into a dark appliance to grab sharp objects is a great idea!), try this simple trick.
First, put on rubber dishwashing gloves and clear out the lower rack. Carefully remove it from the dishwasher, and then clear away any large bits of glass that you can easily get to. Next, cut a potato in half and use the fleshy end of the potato to pick up smaller, harder to reach shards. By doing this, you save those pieces from falling into (and potentially damaging) your dishwasher and from cutting your hand.
