A Trick to Tame the Taste of Onion

cutting-onion_300Onions give crunchy texture and sharp bite to green salads, dressings, and salsas, but sometimes they are a bit too pungent. When prepping onions to eat raw, try rinsing them briefly under cold water after they are cut. The water will wash away the stinky, sulfurous liquid (the stuff that makes you cry!) from the cut surfaces, mellowing both flavor and aroma.

See how to peel and chop an onion without the tears (no onion goggles necessary!).

This is great advice. Thanks – I’ll be sure to pass this on to daddy. XOXO – Bacon
