How to do Yoga on the Go

yoga_300Yoga’s a great way to release stress and relieve tension, but unrolling your yoga mat and breaking into a downward facing dog or camel pose in the middle of your office or while waiting for your flight isn’t the most practical thing. Michelle Marlahan, founder of It’s All Yoga in Sacramento, California, has an easy way to secretly get your yoga on no matter where you are. Just follow her easy instructions:

1. Sit tall towards the edge of a chair with both feet on the ground.

2. Cross your right ankle over your left knee, keeping the right foot flexed. Let the right knee feel heavy, using the right hand to gently press the upper thigh (not at the knee) away from the torso.

3. To increase the stretch, tip forward from the hips, keeping the spine long. To get even deeper, pretend you dropped something on your left side and reach for the floor with your left hand while keeping the right hip on the chair.

4. After a couple of full breaths, bring the torso back to neutral and release the right leg. Change sides.
