Copper pots and pans are coveted by home cooks: they conduct heat well, eliminate hot spots and easily adapt to changes in temperature. And let’s not forget the stunning color and shine that make them not only functional but also fashionable. Maintaining that signature shine can be time consuming, but a few items you already have on hand can help you clean your copper cookware in no time. All you need is a bottle of ketchup and a cotton cloth.
First, place the pan you want to clean in your sink (you don’t want to get ketchup everywhere!). Next, cover the copper pot with a thin layer of ketchup and rub it into any tarnished areas with your cotton cloth. Let stand for five minutes and then rinse with warm water. Now your pots will be so shiny you’ll be able to see the frazzled expression on your face as you try to figure out what’s for dinner! (Luckily, we can help with dinner too.)
