As an avid cake-baker, I’m always looking for ways to make my cake look spectacular. One gorgeous yet surprisingly easy method I love is using flowers as decoration. This is a great way to make your cake colorful without professional-level skills. It doesn’t have to be an entire bouquet, even just one outstanding peony can make a cake look special. Tip: Buy your blooms first, then mix your frosting color to match one of the flower shades. Here are two inspiring ideas from around the web:
San Francisco baker Cathy Haebe is working on a project called Flour and Fleur, combining her creative techniques (check out that robin’s egg-inspired spackle!) with florist Lizzy McGinn.
Blogger Call Me Cupcake uses light pink cherry blossoms to match the light pink frosting.
