How to Make Flowers Last Longer

April 21, 2014 | By | Comments (0)

tulipsNothing brightens a room quite like spring flowers—especially after a long, harsh winter. To extend the life of those beautiful blooms, remember to change the water daily. Resist the urge to be lazy: A simple top-off won’t cut it.

For the best results, empty the existing water and refill the vase with a fresh dose of H2O and trim the stems at an angle to ensure the water is absorbed properly. If you notice any dried leaves or withered flowers, discard them to avoid contaminating the water. If necessary, transfer remaining blossoms to a smaller vase.

Left with a single flower? It’ll look elegant in a pretty teacup.
