The coffee seems to be dripping in slow motion, the dog’s walking around in circles without actually doing his business, the train can’t come soon enough, and the elevator is taking forever! If this sounds like your thought process in the morning, it sounds like you could use a lesson in patience (can’t we all sometimes?). The good news: It’s possible to train yourself to be more patient.
One way is to choose an activity that you do often (taking a sip of water, touching a door handle), then think of the word patience every time you do it, explains Allan Lokos, founder of the Community Meditation Center in New York City. Repeat every day for a week and you’ll start to feel calmer.
