Highlighter How-Tos

Highlighters are one of those cosmetics that I’ve written about a million times but never really used until recently. I’ve always found they make me look more greasy than glow-y. But then I discovered two highlighters that changed my outlook figuratively and literally.

The first is BeneFit Ooh La Lift ($22, Sephora). I’ve started to place a dab of it in each inner eye corner as a last step to doing my makeup. Then I blend it in with my pinky to eradicate blue tones. Bonus use: I’ve found the formula also erases errant eyeliner or mascara—just tap it on top of the smudge and rub gently.

The second is the Kelley Baker Magic Stick Highlighter pencil ($20, kelleybakerbrows.com). This one’s about as real simple as it gets. Just line right below your brows, then blend upward into brows with a brow brush or finger. Voila, instant brow lift. Kelley told me she uses this one shade on all her clients no matter their skin tone.

Still stuck on shadow? Here’s how to properly apply it.
