When you feel your face getting warm, spritz it with water to keep redness to a minimum.

A cold towel on the back of your neck will have the same effect. Why? The cold towel constricts blood vessels, numbs the nerve endings, and helps lower your body temperature quickly, explains Debra Luftman, a cosmetic dermatologist in Beverly Hills.
