If you live in the New York City area, Veuve Cliquot has teamed up with Belle Fleur to create the ultimate Valentine’s Day arrangement—a bouquet lush with pink peonies, garden roses, tea roses, sweetpeas and ranunculus set in a gold julep cup, bottle of Veuve Clicquot Rosé optional. To buy the Veuve Clicquot Rosé Bouquet ($125) call Belle Fleur at 212-254-8703.

If you’d rather create your own arrangement, Meredith Perez, founder and creative director of Belle Fleur, explains how:

1. Start by arranging your flowers on a flat surface and trimming the foliage from each stem (excess greenery soaks up water, causing your flowers to fade faster).

2. If you’re creating a smaller arrangement, you can build the bouquet in your hands. For a larger arrangement, gather your flowers on a flat surface.

3. Start by choosing the largest flower to anchor the center of your arrangement. From there, work outwards, placing flowers in a bulb-like formation with smaller flowers lining the outside of the arrangement.

4. Once you are satisfied with your design, place the vase on the edge of a table and hold your arrangement so that it is adjacent to the table and vase. Cut the stems at the point where they hit the bottom of the vase. Secure your arrangement with a clear elastic tie and place in the vase.

Using Meredith’s step-by-step instructions, I crafted the bouquet above. What do you think?
