Chinese New Year Cupcake

Tomorrow officially marks the Chinese/Lunar New Year, ushering in the Year of the Horse. It’s a 15-day celebration filled with firecrackers, dancing lions, red packets filled with money, and—of course—lots of food. If you don’t feel like cooking up a whole fish or long-life noodles, you can still get in on the festivities by whipping up these Good Luck Cupcakes. Bake your own, or start with store-bought cupcakes—it’s all about the decorations: red frosting with a sprinkle of gold decorating sugar, topped off by a fortune cookie. It may not be traditional, but it’s still a fun way to celebrate.

Get the recipe for Good Luck Cupcakes here; if you feel like baking your own, try these recipes for yellow cupcakes and vanilla frosting.

Kung he fat choy! It’s 1510 in Hawaii and today is perfect weather, nice and sunny with slight breeze. Hope your weather on the East Coast and South will be a better day tomorrow. Enjoy your Chinese New Year Celebrations. Aloha
