If your inbox has morphed into more of a digital junk drawer than an easy way to communicate, tame the chaos with a few little-known tools suggested by IT specialists at three of the top e-mail providers.

Gmail: Undo Send
Didn’t mean to hit send? You have 30 seconds to nab back that e-mail. To enable this feature, go to Settings, then Labs, then click Enable under Undo Send.

Yahoo: Disposable Address
If you hate giving your e-mail to random websites, create an alternate address that routes messages to your real inbox. If the spare address gets spammed, you can simply delete it. To enable this feature, go to the gear wheel in the right corner and click on Settings, then Security, then Disposable Address.

Outlook.com: Sweep
This feature lets you trash every message in your inbox from one sender. To enable this feature, open on of the sender’s emails, click on Sweep at the top of the screen, then hit Delete All From.

Outlook does not stop any unwanted mail. I have been using the sweep option for months but keep getting the same emails. Many are completely inappropriate. I would like to know how to close this account
