Don’t Set Your Styling Tool Above This Temperature

curling-iron-ice_300If your hair falls victim to extreme dryness and breakage, follow this tip from Chrystofer Benson, artistic director for Matrix, a hair-care line: Go easy on the heat styling.

Says Benson, “If your iron has a temperature gauge, never turn it past 410 degrees.” Even if your iron goes above that temperature, keep your dial at medium-high—Benson explains that anything over 410 is strictly for professionals giving specialized treatments.

Whether you use a blow-dryer, curling iron, or flat iron (or all three!), give you locks a break from heat styling at least three days a week—check out these five easy ‘dos for second-day hair.
