Want to spruce up an outdated sofa, but don’t have the budget—let alone time—for a big overhaul? Try throw pillows.
Pillows add texture with a modern twist, absolutely no heavy lifting required. You can even rotate them for the holiday season, opting for warmer tones now, and brighter colors come spring and summer.

I was thinking about this recently! My old pillows are sad.
This is a really smart solution, I can’t afford the 600$+ it would cost to reupholster my very old couch due to being in college right now and my old pillows are very very sad and falling apart; what I do wonder is if this would be better and easier with homemade do it yourself pillows?
Sami, you wouldn’t believe how easy and inexpensive it is to purchase your own zippers and fabric to sew pillows! You could even just create “pillow covers” instead of buying new stuffing and that way you could switch out the look seasonally. As a bonus you could upholster a canvas-like frame with the same material as your pillows for a themed look.
Nice decorating idea, to make it further practical, I would suggest pillow covers, your spring colors and your winter/fall colors, this will cut down on storage space, pillow covers take up much less space than having to store a set of alternate season throw pillows. Just properly wash the covers, and put them away till nest season.
For the above comment, pardon the typo! That should be put them away till next season, not till nest season! hahaha
Pillow covers are so simple to make…..thus you change colors to accent the old sofa. Also, you can find a fitted cover on sale to change the sofa ……
