Quick Swaps for Cuticle Cream

trend-pick-nail-polish_300The secret weapon to strong nails is moisturized cuticles—if you remember to apply cuticle cream or oil along with your hand lotion after every hand washing, you’re that much more likely to prevent brittle and broken nails. Even better: You don’t need a fancy cream handy when you’re in a pinch.

According to Skyy Hadley, a celebrity manicurist and the owner of the As “U” Wish Nail Spa, in Hoboken, New Jersey, try rubbing baby oil, Vaseline, or olive oil into your cuticles. Mark G. Rubin, a dermatologist in Beverly Hills, recommends massaging avocado oil or the contents of a vitamin E capsule, noting, “It’s really just the fact that you’re putting on something oily to hold in water and moisture that matters.” Another smart idea: Lip balm!

What kind of nail polish is this? I love that it is sparkly but also matte.

Hi Jill, it’s Zoya Matte Velvet. They no longer sell it on their site, but you might have luck on eBay.

So why would you get people’s hopes up and publish a picture illustrating a product that is no longer available?? CRUEL!

Use your smarts girls! Your favourite colours with matte top-coat….and if you can’t find that, add some cornstarch to ordinary topcoat as a hack. Have fun! ;)

OPI has suede shades that have the same effect if you don’t apply top coat.
