Fall is a season of transitions. As the temperature gets cooler, warm-weather clothes get packed up, lawn furniture gets stowed, and gardening equipment gets put away for the winter. So, where’s the best place to store your off-season items?
Use the basement for moisture-tolerant belongings, like sports gear, plastic toys, gardening tools, and wrought-iron furniture. The attic can get very hot and very cold, but things like clothing, luggage, and folding chairs and tables can generally handle the extremes. Just don’t put airtight plastic containers, which can overheat, in the attic. Breathable canvas containers are a better option.
