We’re so used to digital photos (hello, Instagram!) that sometimes, we forget that tangible pictures are susceptible to the elements. Fortunately, one of the most common form of photograph mishaps—fingerprint marks—is easy to remedy.
While minor marks can be gently cleaned away using a 100 percent cotton cloth or T-shirt, greasy fingerprint stains may need the help of a moist towelette (the kind used for plastic glass lenses and computer screens). According to Russ Muzzolini, Vice President of Imaging and Rendering at Shutterfly.com, “The cleaning solvent lifts grease off the photo without leaving behind remains or scratch marks.” From there, safely set the photo aside so it can air-dry.
