The word of the day is cronut. Even if you’ve never heard of it–for the record, it’s a half croissant, half doughnut–you can certainly imagine how delicious they could be. Anything that comes from the root donut has to be amazing. Dominique Ansel Bakery in New York City has been credited as the genius behind this new confection. And there is even a website (cronut.org) devoted to the “cronut movement.”

If you can’t get your hands on one, try this homemade cronut recipe. Or, stick with the basics, with Real Simple’s Easy Doughnut recipe (the trick, you start with biscuits!).

What do you think? Have cupcakes and cake pops have finally met their match?
