How to Do a Braided Updo

Braided Updo (Fishtail Flower)

Keep your hair off of your neck on a hot summer’s day with a gorgeous braided updo that’s casual enough for everyday wear, but can easily be dressed up for a wedding or cocktail party.

1. Slick down center-parted medium to long hair with a comb and some gel.

2. Secure hair at the nape with a clear elastic.

3. Form a fishtail braid (Separate the ponytail into two sections. Hold one section; with your other hand, take a narrow strip of hair from the outside of the other section and bring it over to the one in your hand. Repeat, incorporating hair from one section into the other until you run out of hair; then secure with another clear elastic.)

4. Twist the braid around itself to form a “flower.” Secure with bobby pins.
