How to Prevent Rust Stains in the Bathtub

May 20, 2013 | By | Comments (4)

Metal-bottomed products, like shaving cream, are often to blame for stubborn and unsightly rust rings around the tub. The good news: A few preventative steps can keep them from appearing (and save you some major elbow grease!).

The easiest solution? Place a plastic lid underneath metal-bottomed bathing products to prevent rust from forming and creating a ring on the tub. If you have a few minutes to spare, take the time to brush a coat of clear nail polish on the metal ring around the product’s base. With the bottom coated, you can nix the plastic lid and still ward off rust stains.
